My Shoe Soulmate, Nicholas Kirkwood.

One thing that makes my heart skip a beat more so then anything has to be Statement shoes! 

Recently, I turned my towel closet into another shoe closet! Let me tell you...there's nothing like opening that door to a wide array of sequence, color, print, metals and don't forget about all the 7' heel-less heels ! 

One shoe designer that gets me every season is definitely Nicholas Kirkwood! 

Nicholas was born in Germany in1980. Around 1999 he met Philip Treacy, (another fave of mine) on a skiing trip in Klosters. Nicholas worked at Philip's London store for 5 years. Amazingly enough he lived with Isabella Blow during his stay!! What a small world? That being said, you can see how he got to be so amazing - being surrounded by so many fantastic creative people. He wanted to create statement shoes that were in the same league as Philips hats and McQueens clothing. 

No doubt he achieved his goal. He's created catwalk shoes for Ghost, John Rocha, Erdem, Pollini and my personal fave Rodarte.

Anytime I see a Kirkwood shoe, not to be melodramatic but... it takes my breath away.
