DIY Heel Re-Vamp !

How many of you out there have a pair of shoes that you love, but, they are starting to show a little wear and tear...And Just not feeling that sparkle of a brand new pair...

Recently, I did a restoration project on an "kinda tired but couldn't retire" pair of pumps. 
So, here are some "hotbynight" tips to revamp your pumps. Not only will you breathe new life into some tired kicks, you might just surprise yourself with a one of a kind creation!

Step one: Check what material you are dealing with. In my case it was a swede finish. A little bristled brush...and scrub a dub dub. They came up like new! A leather finish can be buffed to brand new and a little polish in the same tone goes a long way. Buff out all stains, dirt and any other imperfections. 

Step two: Let them dry over night 

Step three: The sole of my heels had been worn right out. A quick fix - fun colored acrylic paint. Paint away the bland cream color. I chose blue for a fun change. For staying power, paint a couple layers. And leave overnight to dry. Finally a clear coat of sparkle nail polish to seal the color and make it shine. ( I could have used a commercial varnish...but hey, the clear polish works just as well and added that hit of sparkle)

Step four: Now comes the fun part ! Embellish and accent with something unique! Michael's Craft store had the cutest half pearls. With my handy hot glue gun I added them to the heel. Blue, grey and silver tones made the blue sole pop even more.

Voila! One of a kind, Vintage.

I am so happy with the outcome, and have loads of ideas for my next pair.
