When you can genuinely say, that you love who you are and where you are going in life, everything else falls into place. Friends, jobs, relationships and the serendipity moments that make life worthwhile.
There was a time when I would literally be too nervous and lacked the confidence to go into a clothing store alone. A lunch or a manicure on my own would have been impossible!
Until I met a friend who had no problem with her own company and I realized I needed a little change. Alone she was free and independent. She was confident, daring and knew what she wanted out of life. With this knowledge, it completed every part of her life. She didn't view herself as being alone. She was hanging out with herself!
From that moment on, I started braving the world and doing things on my own.
As the years have gone by, I can happily say that I have no problem keeping myself company. :) Time alone to explore the world and new experiences puts your life into perspective. Suddenly you're in touch with how you feel and what you need in life. And you'll begin to crave this "alone time" to be yourself. We all bring different social masks to every relationship. Spending time with yourself - forces you to be yourself. And to listen to your inner voice without any other influences good or bad.
Some points to remember:Always be conscious in the moment. Keep your phone in your purse. Don't let it distract you from what's really going on around you...
When you're driving, turn off the radio. Enjoy the silence and let your thoughts entertain you. You will become enlightened and you just might answer some of your biggest questions.
It's easiest to start with simple things that make you feel great; A trip to the florist, book store, the beach. You can work up to dinner by yourself.
On a recent trip to New York, I saw a movie by myself. It was the best matinee experience!
Never underestimate your own company. Get to know yourself. You will have so much more to offer if you do!
